AS A MAN, NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY SUBMISSION IS HARD FOR MANY WOMEN

The older I get and the more I grow in my walk with God, the more I understand why the idea of a wife submitting to her husband feels heavy and scary for many women.

Submission is not an easy ask. It requires trust, safety, consistency, humility, and emotional security to let go and submit.

So before a man demands submission or gets frustrated when a woman resists it, he needs to slow down and ask himself:

Do I even understand what I’m asking for?
Am I asking this of her because of my selfish desires or because I am confident I will prioritize her and make her feel safe, too?

The concept of submission struck me deeply during my Bible study on trusting God.
I’m over here struggling to fully submit to GOD, my Creator, because I still want control. I still want things to go my way. I still think I know what’s best in certain areas of my life.

And yet men like me, who wrestle with surrendering to a perfect and loving God, will still expect a woman to submit to a human being. One who may be selfish, inconsistent, prideful, emotionally unavailable, or careless with her heart.

When you really sit with that, whew.

This is why I always say:
Only a man who has submitted to God can love a woman like Christ loves the church. Only that man understands the responsibility, weight, and honor of leadership because he’s been led first.

Ladies, please, don’t let height, aesthetics, income, or social media confidence blind you.
Look for a man who:

– Has submitted his life to God.
– Practices servant leadership, not dictatorship.
– Is humble enough to grow, heal, and be corrected.
– Works hard and takes responsibility.

With a man like that, submission won’t feel like losing yourself. It will feel like partnership, peace, and protection.

Marriage thrives not because a woman submits, but because a man is worthy of being trusted with that submission.
